Exclusive: The 37-year-old says the oil changed her and her children’s lives

Lisa Dillon, 37, from Dundalk, Co Louth has revealed her condition was so bad her children feared she was going to die with every seizure.

Dillon has been suffering with second generation epilepsy for over 20 years and doctors have not been able to help her.

But after six weeks of using cannabidiol (CBD), she told how it has not only improved her health but it has had a profound effect on her children’s lives too.

“My life has totally changed. I’m not the person I was three months ago. I can’t believe, six weeks today and no seizures,” she told the Irish Mirror.

“My last seizure would have been about six and a half weeks ago and when I take a seizure, I wet myself.

“And it’s just part and parcel of what comes with epilepsy and when that happens to me my kids have to look after me and call the ambulance.”

Lisa told how she went to her GP and told him she wanted to stop taking her medication in favour of the natural remedy.

“I got a letter from my GP because I explained to him, ‘Look doctor, I’m on this CBD’ and he just said, ‘Lisa I have your back on this one.”

Explaining what her life looked like prior to using the oil she admitted she was afraid to even go shopping in case of a seizure.

“Walking around Dunnes doing my shopping and I’m on the floor. I got to the stage where I was just so depressed, I wouldn’t leave the house.”

Lisa admitted it was heartbreaking to see how her condition affected her children Mia 6, Jay 9, Ruby 11, Jodie 14, and Leah 17 before using the oil.

“It’s horrible when you’ve an 11-year-old ringing an ambulance, crying saying ‘I think my mammy is dying’, she said before adding that all the “bad memories” are behind them.

But the mum said her whole life has now turned around.

“I haven’t been this happy and I haven’t felt this good in myself in over 20 years. The kids just can’t believe how happy I am, and I want to leave the house.

“I’m up the town every day, I’m bringing my children to the park. I haven’t got that fear anymore.”

“I’ve started to walk so I can lose a bit of weight, I’ve started to go to the gym, things I’d never ever ever done. Because I know I’m safe,” she said.

Lisa revealed it was reading about another CBD success story that inspired her to try the oil after being a little unsure before.

Referring to two-year-old Zoe from Dundalk, whose mum said CBD has helped to walk and talk despite being diagnosed with quadriplegia and cerebral palsy.

“When I read the article about Zoe, I said I’m going to give this CBD oil a go.

“And I have to say I’m seizure free now for six full weeks. I have not taken one epilepsy tablet in six weeks today, I’ve only put into my body the CBD oil and I’m absolutely shocked.”

Lisa said even though she was sceptical at first, using CBD has been the best decision’ she has ever made in her life.

She has to never vowed “I will never ever take another epilepsy tablet again, I will never look back.”

Lisa gets her oil through Facebook group CBD Network Ireland and said that it lasts her about five days, costing her €35 but that “it’s worth every single penny”.

“I got my life back and my children have got their mammy back that they don’t have to pick off the floor or ring an ambulance.”
